Trip to Utah (Gateway and softball)

Monday morning we decided to head out to the Gateway mall and hang out. But because we are awesome at planning ahead, by the time we had made the plans, got ready for the day, gathered everything together to go, and actually got there, it was time for lunch. So we stopped by the food court.

The best part of the meal, after when all the kids went outside and pressed their faces up against the window and sat at the table with "no adult supervision."

After lunch, instead of shopping at the mall, we played in the water fountain. Ellie was a little hesitant to play in the water at first. It was windy and she was unsure about the water that appeared out of nowhere.


No, mom. I don't wanna.

But once we just let her approach the water on her own terms, she didn't want to stop playing.


That one caught her by surprise.

If you notice, Macy and Braden haven't been in the above pictures, just Kelsey. That's because Braden hadn't been feeling well and didn't want to play in the water (not to mention he is an Arizona kid, likes warm water). Macy was mostly chicken until after Ellie and Kelsey were all but done playing, except when the mist-ers came on.

Ellie finally wanted to be done when she couldn't stop shivering and her lips where blue. So we put up our portable dressing rooms and the kids changed back into clothes.

After doing some quick shopping, we took a quick drive to Wanship to say good bye to the Watterson clan and then drove right back down to watch our friends kids while they played softball. Ellie had so much fun running after and trying to keep up with Drake. Logan (about 2 months younger than Ellie) wanted to be near them but wasn't in such a rush. He usually wanted me to hold him. At one point Drake (about 1 1/2 older than Ellie) jumped off the big cement bench and Ellie looked like she was going to try that also. Luckily she gave it a second thought and realized she's not that good of a jumper yet.

Once Dan and Darci were done playing, we headed out for a quick bite to eat and to chat. I'm glad we were able to sit and enjoy some time with them. We have been friends for quite a while.

Next, off to another softball game so Jake could sub in and play with our old team, Brown Chicken Brown Cow (BCBC). I kind of wish I could have played but it was still fun to be there and watch.  I watched Annie's kids for the first part of the game, until Grandma and Poppy showed up so they could go to the playground.

Run, run

Even though my parents stole all the kids, Calee came and hung out with me. Her hubby was having major car drama on trip fabulous trip to Denver.

 It was a little windy.

 Here Braden is looking for a mint. He can smell mint and thinks Annie has one in her mouth. She had a piece of gum. After venturing into her mouth and locating the gum, he changed from wanting a mint to wanting gum.

It was a fun game to watch and I think Jake really had a good time. If things weren't so hectic with school and work, we might have started a team here. I am so glad we were able to make it to a game. I really love the people on the team and miss them; and late night swims at Maree's.
