The book gives 10 steps to potty training your monster but gives funny warnings and hints through out. Ellie knew all of these by what was shown in the picture so as we would turn the pages, she would say things like "No monsters, no play with toilet paper. Only wipe a bum." "Yea, good job monster. Eat a cookie." "Monsters no like wearing tutus (remember this for the next story)." "Ah oh, no let monster play with soap. He make a messy with bubbles." And my favorite (from one of the last pages where it talks about the best thing about potty training is underpants and in the picture all the monster have underwear on their heads), Ellie would say, in a bossy tone, "No monsters. No put a panties on a head. Put 'em on a bum."
***Side note to add some context for the next story: In one of the T.V. shows Ellie watches, two of the characters (Duck and Sheep) wore tutus for a group picture.***
The other day, Ellie needed to go potty and when Jake took her into the bathroom, she informed him she needed to read a book too. She grabbed the Dilbert book off the back of the toilet and proceeded to "read." When I went to check on Ellie, I saw her turning the pages and heard what she was "reading" out loud. "Monster don't wear tutus. Monsters don't like tutus. Duck wears a tutu. Sheep wears a tutu."
What a silly girl!
